Vocational Rehabilitation: Pre-Employment Transition Services Overview and Q&A

This session will provide attendees with an overview of Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS). Pre-ETS works to empower students with disabilities to achieve their highest employment potential. All students must meet the definition of a student with a disability while in high school and continues to meet the recognized education program and age requirements for the provision of pre-employment transition services.

Topics covered include coordination with local education agencies, service delivery throughout the state of Kansas, process/steps to services, the five available services (Job Exploration Counseling, Self-Advocacy, Workplace Readiness Training, Counseling on Comprehensive Transition or Post-Secondary Education and Work-Based Learning Experiences). This presentation will also provide attendees with information on the coordination and continuum of services within Vocational Rehabilitation (VR).

This session is ideal for those seeking more information on transition services provided to students/youth with disabilities who are interested in gaining skills necessary to one day seek out competitive integrated employment within their communities.
