The Kansas University Center on Developmental Disabilities (KUCDD) has partnered with the Kansas Department of Education (KSDE) on two initiatives designed to build strong community networks for transition and employment in local communities. Building strong networks for interagency collaboration is a key predictor of positive transition and employment outcomes for students in Special Education. The purpose of this presentation is to describe the structure of the community partnerships (Transition Councils and Community Teams) in Kansas and present findings from a project analysis. Over the last year, five communities have established or revitalized Transition Councils to strengthen transition networks in their community. We will also have a panel of Transition Council and Community Team leaders who will highlight outcomes from their partnerships.
